Policy

We seek to improve and influence the policy environment in which our constituency works, in particular responding to the need for a neutral body offering independent research and analysis.

We do not have a grant programme for policy work. The Foundation, in consultation with others, determines work to commission or run ourselves. The objectives of our policy work are:

to improve understanding of the challenges our area and its people face;
to explore new and better solutions to the problems we seek to tackle;
to use our experience and independence to gather and share knowledge for the benefit of North East England and Cumbria;
to help organisations we support to better demonstrate their effectiveness;
to inform and influence relevant policy and practice.
