Third Sector Trends Conference June 2013

Following the latest round of the Third Sector Trends Study from Durham St Chads and Teesside University, the Foundation held a second North East and Cumbria ‘State of the Sector’ conference on 21st June to share findings.

This extensive research project, started in 2008, was commissioned to help us understand the structure and dynamics of the Third Sector in the North East and Cumbria and to track changes in the sector over time. The latest round of the research, carried out at the end of 2012 by Professors Fred Robinson and Tony Chapman has helped to refine our understanding of the characteristics of strong and resilient Third Sector Organisations and to help the sector think about what individual organisations can do to survive and thrive in the future.

This conference, presented by Lemos&Crane and supported by the Foundation, held on 16th January 2013 discussed findings from ‘Loneliness and Cruelty’, new research conducted by Lemos&Crane working with practitioners across the country. It sets out a dynamic new framework for understanding the experiences of people with learning disabilities and how local policy and practice needs to respond.
