Mo O’ Toole
Dr Barbara (Mo) O’Toole is Visiting Professor of Creativity and Innovation at Newcastle University Business School. Prior to joining the School she was the England Partnership Manager for NESTA. Previously Mo was a Member of the European Parliament representing North East England, and a European and national Parliamentary spokesperson for the Culture Media and Sport Committee. In addition, she sat on the Trade and Industry Committee, and was a founder member of the European Internet Foundation, addressing particularly the economics of new media.
Before entering Parliament, Mo spent 10 years as an academic lecturing and undertaking research throughout Europe, based at the Universities of Bristol and then Newcastle. She specialised in and has written widely on issues of governance and urban and regional policy. Her career has also included time in local government and the voluntary sector.
