Year-one plan (2008-2009)
Quantitative study
- Assemble, clean, and link together registers of unincorporated organisations.
- Describe and analyse the distribution of these organisations.
- Compare outputs of this exercise with similar local and regional studies elsewhere and produce a report summarising what we have learned from the exercise and of how our results compare to those of previous studies.
- Using these registers, conduct surveys to enable profiling of the unincorporated sector.
- Initial work on national survey datasets (Citizenship Survey, Labour Force survey) and Guidestar data, producing summary statistics and reports as appropriate.
Qualitative study
- Stakeholder interviews

- Development of research strategy for network analysis and study of 80-100 third sector organisations
- Focus Groups to test ideas and evidence from stakeholder analysis
- Report on baseline stakeholder analysis and policy environment
