Team biographies
Professor Tony Chapman
Tony is Director of the Social Futures Institute. Tony’s applied research interests include community cohesion, neighbourhood renewal, social enterprise and the changing role of the community and voluntary sector. He has led in a number of projects on social and economic regeneration with a particular focus on the third sector’s contribution to tackling multiple deprivation and building sustainable communities. Larger projects have included:
- a mapping study and recommendations for developing a social enterprise strategy for Tees Valley (for Business Link Tees Valley);
- a study of the voluntary and community sector in the North East (for Voluntary and Community Sector Task Force / Government Office for the North East);
- a skills audit of asylum seekers and refugees (for Middlesbrough Council);
- a study of good practice in neighbourhood renewal areas across the North East (for Government Office for the North East).
Tony will take overall responsibility for the qualitative element of the Study, including liaison with the Foundation and the Advisory Group, dissemination and co-ordination and management of the team.
