Changing Lives
The Foundation works with other partners to help young people in the criminal justice system, people who misuse drugs and alcohol, and refugee and asylum seekers.
This programme recognises that there are some people who live on the margins of our society and who struggle to feel that they have a place in the community. Some have lived chaotic lives with low expectations and aspirations. They are unlikely to take advantage of opportunities to become involved in community life, to take part in education or to take up training and employment. They do not have a sense of belonging or security.
The Foundation specifically works to support refugees and asylum seekers to get access to appropriate legal services and general support so that they can begin to settle into new lives in this country. It also supports younger offenders and those within the criminal justice system to accept responsibility for their actions and then to develop more rewarding lives with help and long-term support. It helps people who want to start to recover from alcohol and or drug misuse and who can benefit from peer support and understanding.
We have funded organisations which offer quality support to support people to change their lives and feel more self-confident and positive, and we encourage collaborative working between statutory and voluntary sector partners.
