Grant Making
Our grant programmes exist to support charitable activities that have particular results, and which contribute to our aims: tackling disadvantage and improving quality of life in North East England and Cumbria.
How do we make our grants?
We intend to complete our current programmes of work in 2014. To achieve this we are now making grants on an ‘invitation to bid’ basis only, working principally with organisations with which we have an existing relationship and which have the capacity to deliver our objectives. This will ensure we make best use of our funds to achieve the most impact for disadvantaged people.

- Enabling Independence and Choice supports people with dementia and their carers, people with mental health problems and people with learning disabilities. Find out more…
- Changing Lives works with other partners to help young people in the criminal justice system, people who misuse drugs and alcohol, and refugee and asylum seekers. Find out more…
